MediaKind and Smartlabs announce global IPTV & OTT partnership

By Patrick Gilmore, Partnerships Development Manager at MediaKind
I’m genuinely excited to share the news of our new strategic global partnership between Smartlabs and MediaKind. From the very first conversations, it was clear this was more than a technical integration. It reflected a shared vision for how video services should be delivered, scaled, and evolved. A key differentiator from the outset was Smartlabs’ deep experience in professional services. This helps operators migrate legacy headends to the cloud. Combined with MediaKind’s technology, it’s exactly why we felt this was such a great combination.
At MediaKind, we regularly hear the same challenges from operators. These include complexity, time to market, and the need to modernise without disruption. By bringing together MediaKind’s cloud-native video headend, MK.IO Beam, with Smartlabs’ IPTV/OTT platform and client applications, with support for an ever increasing range of client devices, we address these challenges directly. The result is a solution that’s tightly integrated and ready to deploy.
It excites me how complete this offering is. It covers content ingestion, processing, delivery, and the end-user experience. Everything works seamlessly across managed IPTV and OTT environments. This leads to less integration effort, lower risk, and faster service launches, while maintaining consistent quality and performance.
This partnership is also about giving operators real choice. Some are launching new services. Others are modernising existing ones. In both cases, we make it easier to move away from legacy headends and traditional set-top box ecosystems. The shift is towards a modern, software-driven architecture. Operators can move at their own pace and protect existing investments.
By working closely with Smartlabs, we combine MediaKind’s experience in large-scale video processing and delivery with Smartlabs’ strength in middleware, applications, device management and custom solution development. Together, we help operators simplify operations. We also help reduce costs and increase flexibility. This allows teams to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure.
Ultimately, this partnership is about enabling our customers to spend less time managing complexity. It gives them more time to create great user experiences and new revenue opportunities. I’m proud of what we’ve built together. I’m excited to see how operators use this combined solution to shape the next generation of video services.
