5G Mobile is undergoing a rapid worldwide rollout, bringing new connectivity capability to both human and machine-to-machine uses, driven by the insatiable demand for data needed by many consumer and business applications. However, to roll out 5G networks, spectrum is required, and in the majority of cases, there are existing media and TV service users of this same spectrum. To enable capacity for 5G operations, these existing users will need to take action.
This application paper provides an insight into spectrum re-allocation and how existing users will have to adapt to the consequential shift as the consumer and business worlds inevitably move to 5G.
