Statement on Bitmovin Partnership

When Microsoft announced the retirement of Azure Media Services (AMS) on June 30th, 2024, we at Bitmovin and MediaKind have worked hard, each in our own ways, to propose a new

Azure home for AMS customers. We both understood the challenges raised by the migration and came up with solutions to make this seamless.

To this end, either Bitmovin Streams or MediaKind MK.IO interface directly with the storage and content that was previously encoded, eliminating the need for transcoding or data transfer. By pointing to their Azure storage with either solution, customers can continue streaming hassle-free.

But here’s the real game-changer – Bitmovin Streams and MediaKind MK.IO aren’t just replacements for AMS. Each cloud service is built on top of Azure with different features and roadmaps that extend far beyond AMS, promising technological advancements for our respective customers.

Bitmovin and Mediakind share the same vision of empowering content owners to craft stellar streaming experiences. That’s why we are both recommended by Microsoft and why we’re partnering on designing solutions for the most advanced streaming workflows. Despite recent speculations, we both believe that collaboration is key to success in the industry.
